May 5th Pond begins with soil samples. The almost 2 acre pond will be dredged and increased to almost 3 acres. The pond is fed by a couple of strong springs that originate from a foundation of a house no longer standing on the property. The pond is the headwaters for the Honey Run Stream that flows into the Killbuck River then into the Walhounding River then followed by the Muskingum River then into the Ohio River followed by the Mississippi River. The pond will be completed by Larry Orr and his son Brian. They are hired to complete the job based on many years experience.

Dec 6th A series of heavy adjustable aluminum baffles controls how high the water needs to rise before it falls over the exsisting baffles left in the hole. In this position the water would have to rise all the way to the top and the water be at its highest point the pond could hold. The tool in the well caseing is used to adjust the baffles.

Oct 11th Here is an old foundation located near the pond where we are getting our sandstone for rock piles and support for the flat rocks placed just off the shore around the pond for casting platforms. This old house was moved in the late 40's because of its lack of access. Cars would have had a difficult time getting down the old drive. The place is a little creepy. We would love to clean it up getting rid of the briars and imagine life of old. There are a bunch of old farming equipment around and a spring sistern we have not located yet. It would be fun to have a metal detector back here.

Drained summer of 2011 2 acres is the present size. It was built about 40 years ago. It was built before no-till farming was introduced and has massive silt from run off after spring plowing. Max depth was 8ft most was 4ft. These springs that feed the pond overflow and forms the Honeyrun Creek headwaters. From here it flows to the Killbuck River then into the Walhounding River then the Muskingum River then into the Ohio River then finally the Mississippi River.
